Women Empowerment Songs to listen to in 2021

7 Empowering Songs that you HAVE TO listen to (and 10 that you might already know)

Ahh, Music…

It’s been with us since the dawn of time.

From simple sounds made by caveman to the auto-tune filled pop-songs that seem to be rolling out each and every day. But, auto-tune or not, there are artists today who truly deserve recognition.

Here, at Pundeez we care about women and women empowerment.
That is why we have prepared a playlist with songs that will empower women everywhere.

The complete Playlist can be found here:

And If you are wondering, why any particular songs have made our list, just continue reading below.

Each one of these songs has at least tens of millions of views. And a few of them have probably gotten stuck in your head on more than one occasion. But have you ever wondered WHY? Is it because of the uplifting lyrics, energizing melody? Or is it because of a charismatic lead singer?

Check out our list below and see for yourself:

Rachel Platten – Fight Song – It’s about our most important battle – the fight for our dreams.

And just like in boxing, it can be messy, painful and we might fall to the ground sometimes. But, just as Rachel points out – even if no one else believes in us, we still have some fight in us.

To be empowered is to know your worth, to stand tall, and keep going for what your heart truly desires:

Spice Girls – Wannabe – Who didn’t have a favorite Spice Girl? (Team Posh Spice here!)

This classic of a classic has recently gotten a completely new audience.

All thanks to the superhero show named “The Boys”, where Wannabe is being played during a VERY memorable scene involving a dolphin.  Check it out, but only at your own discretion – “The Boys” is known for being one of the most graphic shows out there.

For everyone who prefers the nostalgia of 90’s pop music, see the original clip:

Demi Lovato – Confident – Is there anything wrong with being confident?

That’s a good question. Actually, a really good one.

We should never apologize for not having doubts about ourselves. But if that wasn’t enough to make it a truly empowering song, the video tells us a certain story. It’s about a prison convict who gets to escape but is chased by a mysterious woman.

How did that conflict end? See for yourself:

Sia – Unstoppable – the entire song can be described as one big affirmation – or even a mantra – that you could repeat every morning in front of a mirror:

I’m unstoppable, I’m a Porsche with no brakes, I’m invincible,  I win every single game”.

If this is a mindset that you wish to pick up, you can start by listening to:

Alicia Keys – Girl on fire – The title says it all.  The girl is so hot that she is literally on fire.

But while “hot” often refers to being subjectively good-looking, Alicia is pointing out different beauty – the one that’s inside you.

Yes YOU – because deep down, you’re the girl that You can try but you’ll never forget her name

As long as you remember who you are, then this song is all about you:

Lizzo – Good as hell – Break-ups are hard. It’s just the fact of life.

While it feels natural to shut yourself down from everything and everyone, Lizzo asks you to do the exact opposite – get yourself pampered and enjoy your life.

Whether you are going through a breakup or not, this is THE SONG that you have to listen to every once in a while:

Demi Lovato – Sorry not sorry  – What’s the point of freedom if you don’t use it?

Having fun for example. Demi threw a house party and it looked sick.

Everybody was having a good time, and no one is going to apologize for it. Why should they?!

So if you know how to enjoy yourself, this is a song to remind you that no one can make you feel bad about it:

NOTABLE MENTION:

Kelly Clarkson – Stronger –  “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”  is a saying that is almost as old as music itself. Everyone knows it.

This is why it’s not such a surprise that Kelly made it even more popular.

It’s a true women empowerment song – not just for women but for anyone who is having a hard time:

Other empowering songs worth your time:

Jennifer Lopez – Ain’t your Mama –

“I ain’t gon’ be cooking all day. I ain’t your mama / I ain’t gon’ do your laundry. I ain’t your mama.”

Apart from repeating, “I ain’t your mama,”  JLo certainly ain’t your Mama!

Dua Lipa – IDGAF – The message is simple – once someone walks away it’s a bad idea to let them back in:

Katy Perry – Roar – Katy Perry gets stuck in the jungle! Uh – oh!

But don’t worry – she’s got the eye of the tiger:

Beyonce – Run the world – This song might just as well be announced as an anthem for women empowerment. Because this is how it will be remembered for years to come:

Ava Max – Kings and Queens – What if we had Queens instead of Kings?

Yes, what if?!

Taylor Swift – Shake it Off – Does it matter what people say? Not really.

What about haters? Taylor answers that question in a worldwide hit song:

P!nk – So what – When things don’t go your way, sometimes the only thing you could do is to shrug your shoulders and say: So What?

Ke$ha – We R Who We R – If you like to party, then this song is all about you.

Go out! Have fun! The city is yours!

Meghan Trainor – All about that bass – Feeling empowered starts with accepting yourself the way you are.

Just like Meghan and her friends:
